lovin 2006

hi-de-hi, happy new year and all that to you all!! Hope you are enjoying the summer sun and thinking of me freezing over here!! It hasn't been that bad though, no more snow since last time (hmmm, duh) and managing to keep warm and toasty... cool. so thats the weather out of the way..
Going back to New Years, had a brilliant night bringing in 2006, drinks at ours and then to the pub to do the mandatory countdown - popped my bottle of champaign to celebrate then off to dance the night away.. went to a party called 'Occupational Hazard' in a squatted warehouse in Hackney, so close by, couple of rooms with DJs, bands etc. Loved the music, esp the cheesy old school tunes when the sun came up!! Couldn't believe it when my watch said 12 noon, thats a record for me and didn't even feel that tired. Lots of folks from my place were there, even the kids, so a nice family feel... home to crash and sleep for 20 hours to recover. Then it was back to work and sorta back to reality.. another big bash last weekend as a double birthday for people in the house - wicked night with the hall turned into a party - decks, mixer, lights and lots of cake!
Next day a bunch of us biked to the car boot sale to hunt for bargains (10 bags of cereal for 3 quid, a monkey tea pot and the monty python record) all hungover and very silly.
Must admit things were getting rather messy and it seemed like the festive season was never going to end, the squat was looking a bit worse for wear and always some sort of party going on. But the last few days have been clean up mode, and the place looks beautiful!!
Had the most lovely day yesterday - got to hang out with my mate Jo from NZ!! we worked together on the kerb coffee van, she rocks and has been over visiting her sis and new (adorable) baby niece. So, meet her at the coach station, then after a bit of wandering headed to my work (little sad I confess!) for lunch and, umm, yeah - coffee! Got to see all her photos and have a general catch up, great to see a friendly, familiar face from back home! We walked over Tower Bridge then just cos Tom insisted, had a token protest at the exorbitant entrance fee to the Tower of London. Then off to Harrods darling to drink tea (you would gasp if you knew the price, but cheers to Jo for shouting) and use the luxury washrooms. Word of advice if you ever find yourself in a similar situation - don't use the complementary hand lotion. What a pong. Strolled round briefly feeling mightily out of place, then jumped back on the tube to see Jo off to the airport. Brilliant day all round, "blatantly well random, aw bless!" :)
So, yeah, things going dandy, work is work, life is always full of surprises, often have to pinch myself and remember how amazing it really is!
All the best and go hard to all of you going to Happy Valley - I will be with you in spirit and totally think its amazing what the campaign has done - for y'all who don't know bout it, check out www.savehappyvalley.org.nz cos its wrong and its important OK?!
Love you all and miss you terribly
