six months and still goin strong

hey intrepid readers (are you still out there?!)
well, things have been going wonderfully in London - I have a home! Been working hard getting the squat sorted, cleaning and sorting etc. Now have hot water for showers, lovely. Living with neat people, about 10 of us now, a mixed bunch, quite a few of us new to London and others who are squatters from way back. No news from the council about the state of play or what action they plan to take so I guess no news is good news. Love living there, very social place and become a bit of a night owl staying up to the small hours.
Went to court last week over the arrest during DSEi, our supa cool lawyer got us all cautions which means no fine, conviction etc so good outcome.
Been to some of Londons attractions, the natural history museum, Camden markets, Greenwich village, Stop the War rally, Critical Mass bike ride through central london with 200 cyclists holding up traffic etc! Always something going on and never a dull moment.. getting used to the area too and biking round is excellent, the fastest (and cheapest) way to travel.
Slowly doing job stuff, researching organisations I might want to apply for an internship at - London is the place to be as lots of the NGOs and groups are based here. Also looking for a part time job in a cafe or something to earn some cash, managing not to spend much money here so hopefully I can save a bit for more travelling...
So yeah, life is pretty grand, been here for - can you believe it - 6 months already!! like, half a year, its really flown by and doesn't feel like that long at all. Its been a fantastic adventure and looking back I've packed in lots of places and random missions, made lots of new friends and (OK, its starting to get cheesy) 'learnt alot about myself'.. hehe. May it continue aye! Kinda feel like starting a new stage of the trip, settling down and staying put somewhere which is nice, especially with winter creeping up. It was a little nippy last night I can tell ya.
As always, thinking of my kiwi mates and everthing thats special about NZ
claire
PS you know the Rossport five, the guys in jail in Ireland that were refusing to let Shell put a pipe line through their land? well, they got released yesterday which is great :)
